Verse of the Day 6/1

Verse of the Day 6/1

Isaiah 41:10
New International Version

10 So do not fear, for I am with you;
    do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
    I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

For years, Isaiah 40 and 41 have been a couple of my favorites in the Old Testament.  Today's verse has served as a "go to" verse in times of struggle.  I am not alone iin this.  I read a lot of John Pipers work and he said the same thing about Isaiah 41:10 and lists the reasons why verse 10 in particular have helped him.

Here are the five reasons:

1 "For I am with you" — "Do not fear, for I am with you."

2 "I am your God" — "Do not look anxiously about you, for I am your God."

3 "I will strengthen you."

4 "Surely I will help you."

5 "Surely I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

Restated, the five pillars of fearlessness are:

1 God is with me;

2 God is my God;

3 God will strengthen me;

4 God will help me;
5 God will uphold me.

Those 5 bullet points should stick in our minds and in our hearts to draw from when facing trials and tribulations. If you know of someone who needs some encouragement, reach out to thim and point out the five pillars of "fearlessness"  that are available.

John Piper continues: "There is no verse in the Bible I have used more often to strengthen my hand for a frightening task. It is my default promise. It is the whir of the gears of my brain when they are in neutral. It has served me for decades like no other verse."

1. Our God, our help in ages past,
Our hope for years to come,
Our shelter from the stormy blast,
And our eternal home:

2. Under the shadow of your throne
Your saints have dwelt secure;
Sufficient is your arm alone,
And our defense is sure.

3. Before the hills in order stood
Or Earth received her frame,
From everlasting you are God,
To endless years the same.

4. A thousand ages in your sight
Are like an evening gone,
Short as the watch that ends the night
Before the rising sun.

Blessings,
Mike

Isaiah 41:8-10
New International Version

"But you, Israel, my servant,
    Jacob, whom I have chosen,
    you descendants of Abraham my friend,
I took you from the ends of the earth,
    from its farthest corners I called you.
I said, 'You are my servant';
    I have chosen you and have not rejected you.
10 So do not fear, for I am with you;
    do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
    I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
