Verse of the Day 6/5

Thouugh the Bible - 2 Chronicles 19-22, John 16:16-33

Good morning,

For today's verse we go to 1 Corinthians 15 where Paul takes a look back, while doing so he encourages us that living, abiding with and for the Lord "is not in vain", it is worth it all.

1 Cor 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.    NKJV
John MacArthur writes that "the hope of resurrection makes all the efforts and sacrifices in the Lord's work worth it.  No work done in HIs name is wasted in light of eternal glory and reward."

Paul speaks of "always" abounding, which gives the implication of abundance, of overflowing, while serving the Lord as the NLT puts it "enthusiastically", in whatever position in life we find ourselves.

What other words, what adjectives come to mind when you read the words"steadfast" and "immoveable"?  Perhaps undaunted or unflappable or something similar.  Did you consider the word "meek"?

Jesus embodied the word.  I've heard it described as He lived it as "power under control".
Jesus showed it in all kinds of situations.  It is possible for us to display this in the various situations and in ministries that we may be involved in throughout our lives  It is possible because of the hope that we have in Him
.
The following verse comes to mind.
Neh 8:10 And Nehemiah continued, "Go and celebrate with a feast of rich foods and sweet drinks, and share gifts of food with people who have nothing prepared. This is a sacred day before our Lord. Don't be dejected and sad, for the joy of the Lord is your strength!"
Read the passage below.  May it strengthen you, give you hope now or whenever you need it.

In Christ,
Mike

1 Cor 15:50-16:1
Our Final Victory
50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption. 51 Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed —  52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: "Death is swallowed up in victory."
55 "O  Death, where is your sting?
O Hades, where is your victory?"
56 The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

NKJV
