Verse of the Day 11/22

Verse of the Day 11/22

Colossians 3:15
English Standard Version

15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.

As I read today's verse in my devotions this morning, I thought that it was a good verse to share with Thanksgiving coming up tomorrow followed by Advent and Christmas.  In this troubled world we all need peace, and as Christians, it should be "ruling", presiding over our hearts and influencing or controlling what we do and say.

The verse is also a call for unity.  The body of Christ needs to be unified, in love, in compassion and in thanksgiving.  We are always to be thankful.

Read the short passage below.  May we "put on" compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness (power under control, and patience".  It is a tall order but with the power of Christ through His grace residing in us it is possible.  Then, may we all give thanks and prasie the Lord for what He has done for us.

Give thanks with a grateful heart,
give thanks to the Holy One;
give thanks, because he's given
Jesus Christ, his Son.
Give thanks with a grateful heart,
give thanks to the Holy One;
give thanks, because he's given
Jesus Christ, his Son.

And now let the weak say 'I am strong',
let the poor say 'I am rich',
because of what the Lord has done for us;
and now let the weak say 'I am strong',
let the poor say 'I am rich',
because of what the Lord has done for us.
Give thanks…

Blessings,
Mike

Colossians 3:12-17
English Standard Version

12 Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, 13 bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. 14 And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. 15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. 17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
