2 Corinthians 1:4 Who comforts (consoles and encourages) us in every trouble (calamity and affliction), so that we may also be able to comfort (console and encourage) those who are in any kind of trouble or distress, with the comfort (consolation and encouragement) with which we ourselves are comforted (consoled and encouraged) by God. There are many that are celebrating this morning over the elections and there are just about as many that will need consolation. Today's verse is fitting.
Everything doesn't revolve around elections. The Amplified Bible refers to "every trouble" and other translations use "afflictions" or "tribulation". The word actually describes being squeezed, being under pressure which can come from any number of things that exert internal or external stress on us. God's Word is often the source of consolation for us. We can look back to David in the Psalms at how often he was under pressure, down and discouraged, but was lifted up when he sought God in His Word and in prayer. We can do the same thing and share that consolation with others.

2 Corinthians 1:3-5 New Living Translation (NLT)
God Offers Comfort to All
3 All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. 4 He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. 5 For the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with his comfort through Christ.
