Verse of the Day 11/22

1 Chronicles 16:34 Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good;
His faithful love endures forever.  Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!  We truly have so much to be thankful for, especially as Christians.  We are thankful for His goodness, mercy and "faithful love".

Today's "Grace Gems" quoted Pastor James Smith in regards to this verse:

"O, give thanks to the Lord, Christian, for He has not dealt with you after your sins, nor rewarded you according to your iniquities! He has . . .
  pardoned your sins,
  justified your soul,
  renewed your nature, and
  given you a title to everlasting life!

He has thus . . .
  prevented your ruin,
  borne with your follies,
  supplied all your needs,
  guided your steps, and
  promised to conduct you to glory!
His mercy has been ever great toward you!"

The first part deals with being thankful for our personal relationship and standing with God.  The second stanza should cause us to stop and give thanks for His mercy and patience with us as we've lived our lives.  Reading these words may we truly be thankful that His mercy truly has been "great towards" us.

May these words "control your hearts" today and bring you peace, yes, be thankful.

Colossians 3:15  And let the peace of the Messiah, to which you were also called in one body, control your hearts. Be thankful.    Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)
In Christ,
Mike

1 Chronicles 16:33-35 Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)
33 Then the trees of the forest will shout for joy before the Lord,
for He is coming to judge the earth.
34 Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good;
His faithful love endures forever.

35 And say: "Save us, God of our salvation;
gather us and rescue us from the nations
so that we may give thanks to Your holy name
and rejoice in Your praise.
