Verse of the Day 3/25

Ecclesiastes 3:1  For everything there is a season;
a time for every activity under heaven.  New Living Translation (NLT)

Spring officially arrived last week, but for the southeast and many areas of the country, it sure doesn't feel like it.  But we do know that even though it is delayed, the spring weather will come along.   So it is in our lives, we try to delay aging, purchasing products to keep us young to prevent us from crossing the line and moving into the next season.  We'll purchase things to color our hear to hide the gray, sprays that will mask bald spots, buy anyi aging cream, but no matter what we try to do our internal "clock" keeps ticking and knows what season it is in.

How much better off we are if we realize and accept the seasons and the things appointed for each season by God.  We can enjoy and praise God for the different seasons in nature and in our lives realizing that there is a time for all of the activities mentioned in the passage for the glory, praise and honor of God.

Fast forwarding to the end of the book, Solomon closes with these words which are good for us in any season, "fear God and obey His commands", good advice for us to be able to find joy in the seasons.

Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 That's the whole story. Here now is my final conclusion: Fear God and obey his commands, for this is everyone's duty. 14 God will judge us for everything we do, including every secret thing, whether good or bad.  New Living Translation (NLT)

In Christ,
Mike

Ecclesiastes 3

New Living Translation (NLT)

A Time for Everything

For everything there is a season,
a time for every activity under heaven.
A time to be born and a time to die.
A time to plant and a time to harvest.
A time to kill and a time to heal.
A time to tear down and a time to build up.
A time to cry and a time to laugh.
A time to grieve and a time to dance.
A time to scatter stones and a time to gather stones.
A time to embrace and a time to turn away.
A time to search and a time to quit searching.
A time to keep and a time to throw away.
A time to tear and a time to mend.
A time to be quiet and a time to speak.
A time to love and a time to hate.
A time for war and a time for peace.
