Titus 2:12-13 We're being shown how to turn our backs on a godless, indulgent life, and how to take on a God-filled, God-honoring life. This new life is starting right now, and is whetting our appetites for the glorious day when our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, appears. He offered himself as a sacrifice to free us from a dark, rebellious life into this good, pure life, making us a people he can be proud of, energetic in goodness. The Message
As I was completing yesterday's devotional the final words of the chorus to the song "One Day", one day He's coming oh glorious day, reminded me of today's verse from Titus 2. As Christians we are to look forward to that day, that glorious day which will lead us into eternity.
We also considered our walk, day in and day out. Today's verses also instruct us on how we are to go about our lives, turning form godless, indulgent living to a "God filled, and God honoring life. If we haven't yet made that turn, The Message paraphrase encourages us to start right now. There's no time like the present.
May we be willing to turn and to follow, to obey the promptings of the Holy Spirit, to take on a God filled, God-honoring life, to be a people that He can be proud of. Read the words to the Gaither Vocal Band song, "Beyond the Open Door". Is the Spirit calling you?
Beyond the open door is a new and fresh anointing,
Hear the Spirit calling you to go.
Walk on through the door for the Lord will go before you
Into a greater power you've never known . . .
Where He leads me, I will follow.
Where He leads me, I will follow.
And where He leads me, I will follow
Into a greater power you've never known before,
Beyond the open door.
In Christ,
Mike
