Verse of the Day 7/10

Isaiah 55:10-11"For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven
and do not return there but water the earth,
making it bring forth and sprout,
giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater,
11
 11so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth;
it shall not return to me empty,
but it shall accomplish that which I purpose,
and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.  English Standard Version (ESV)

For today's verse we'll return to Isaiah 55.  Any time we read these verses we should be reminded of the majesty, power and glory of the Word of God found in the Bible.

This past winter many parts of our country were covered by a deeper than normal blanket of snow.  Now as we head towards mid summer some areas are suffering drought.  Here in North Carolina we've been in somewhat of a drought.  Lawns and shrubs planted this spring are drying and shriveling up.  Last  night we received some rain in the form of thunderstorms.  It is amazing how quickly things "green up".  Already, within a few hours you can see the green coming back to he plants and some of the withered leaves going back to their normal for.

Moisture from the clouds, whether in the form of winter snow or summer thunderstorms will accomplish God's purposes in meeting the physical needs of all creation.  The Word of God will also accomplish God's purposes any time it goes out.  It may be in the form of a sermon, a song, or a simple note to a friend which includes a verse from Scripture.  It should encourage us in whatever way we serve, that if we send out or quote His Word, He will see to it that it accomplishes what He wants with it.  It will not return empty.

Share something from His Word, His love, His grace today.

In Christ,
Mike

Isaiah 55:8-11The Message (MSG)

8-11 "I don't think the way you think.
The way you work isn't the way I work."
        God's Decree.
"For as the sky soars high above earth,
so the way I work surpasses the way you work,
and the way I think is beyond the way you think.
Just as rain and snow descend from the skies
and don't go back until they've watered the earth,
Doing their work of making things grow and blossom,
producing seed for farmers and food for the hungry,
So will the words that come out of my mouth
    not come back empty-handed.
They'll do the work I sent them to do,
they'll complete the assignment I gave them.
