Hebrews 7:25 Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them. English Standard Version (ESV)
In his morning devotional today Greg Laurie asked what would it mean for you today if Billy Graham, Chuck Swindoll or other prominent Christian would tell you that they were praying for you? Most of us would have to say that we would feel strengthened and encouraged. Today's verse goes well beyond that. What does it mean to you today that Jesus Christ is interceding for you?
The other day we considered in John 14 how God is preparing a place in heaven for those who believe, who put their faith and trust in Him. On top of that we have the words of today's verse that Jesus "always lives to make intercession for us". He is interceding to the Father on our behalf. Greg Lauie writes, "He always lives to make intercession for you. He always prays for you. In fact He's praying for you right now, at the right hand of His Father in heaven...... Jesus is interceding for you at this very moment."
Take another look at the verse. Because of what Jesus accomplished on the cross and through His resurrection, He is able to save, not as a temporary measure, but to the uttermost, to the reaches of heaven, those who will draw near to Him. And He is always there for us, before the Father, interceding for us. And He lives within our hearts, it should all give good reason for us to "rejoice!"
I serve a risen Saviour; He's in the world today.
I know that He is living, whatever men may say.
I see His hand of mercy, I hear His voice of cheer,
And just the time I need Him He's always near.
He lives! He lives! Christ Jesus lives today!
He walks with me and talks with me along life's narrow way.
He lives! He lives! Salvation to impart!
You ask me how I know He lives? He lives within my heart.
Rejoice, rejoice, O Christian! Lift up your voice and sing
Eternal hallelujahs to Jesus Christ, the King!
The Hope of all who seek Him, the Help of all who find,
None other is so loving, so good and kind.
In Christ,
Mike

Hebrews 7:24-26New Living Translation (NLT)
24 But because Jesus lives forever, his priesthood lasts forever. 25 Therefore he is able, once and forever, to save those who come to God through him. He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf.
26 He is the kind of high priest we need because he is holy and blameless, unstained by sin. He has been set apart from sinners and has been given the highest place of honor in heaven.
