Verse of the Day 12/15

Matthew 2:11-12   And going into the house they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh. 12 And being warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they departed to their own country by another way.   English Standard Version (ESV)

The account of the wise men in today's passage is one of the intriguing ones of the Christmas story and in the New Testament.  Not a lot is known for certain of these men who came from afar to see the Christ child.  Most would agree that they were probably gentiles in search of something, or should I say someone.

Many today are going through life, through this Christmas season searching for something, someone who will provide the answers to questions that are on their hears, questions about eternity and meaning in their lives.   Some of us may know that answers but need to return.

The wise men were in search of Jesus and came looking for Him prepared to worship.  They were aware and became more aware of the prophecy when they questioned the scribes about the One who was to come.  They had been on a journey and continued until they found Him.  Their persistence paid off and once they found the baby jesus they worshipped Him, they adored Him and went away rejoicing.
Many have searching hearts this season.  Our prayers should be that "at the right place at the right time" they would find the true Jesus, that they would worship Him.  Experience the joy of the season and the Savior, and would adore Him for who He is and what God has done through Him.

O come, all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant,
O come ye, O come ye, to Bethlehem.
Come and behold Him, born the King of angels;
Refrain
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
Christ the Lord.
Blessings,

Mike

Matthew 2:9-12The Message (MSG)

9-10 Instructed by the king, they set off. Then the star appeared again, the same star they had seen in the eastern skies. It led them on until it hovered over the place of the child. They could hardly contain themselves: They were in the right place! They had arrived at the right time!
