Verse of the Day 1/7
Psalm 37:8 Cease from anger and abandon wrath;
Do not fret; it leads only to evil. Amplified Bible (AMP)
I have a problem with anger management. I may appear to be an easy going guy on the surface, but often there can be an anger, even a rage that boils within which can be released in wrath. That wrath may be carried out on an innocent object or a person. The verse also brings to us that these things are all to often rooted in the fretting and when you boil it down, the fretting often has to do with trivial things. Wayne Watson wrote in song "confrontation with the trivial, you think you'll win, you won't". He also wrote that we are far to concerned with "the generally insignificant". We need to focus on the things that truly matter and not the things that don't, the things that are passing, the things that won't be of significance tomorrow no matter what.
The passage from The Message (below) gives us a good place to start if we want to overcome, to cease from the fretting, the anger and the wrath that can go along with it. "Quiet down before God". Others may count to ten, it may help, it may work in some circumstances, but God's way, quieting down before Him, being prayerful before Him will help in any circumstance.
If you find yourself in a battle with the trivial or the generally insignificant, "quiet down before God" go to Him in prayer that you won't be overcome with the urgency of the generally insignificant and have a better way to a better day.

Psalm 37:7-11The Message (MSG)
7 Quiet down before God,
be prayerful before him.
Don't bother with those who climb the ladder,
who elbow their way to the top.
8-9 Bridle your anger, trash your wrath,
cool your pipes—it only makes things worse.
Before long the crooks will be bankrupt;
God-investors will soon own the store.
10-11 Before you know it, the wicked will have had it;
you'll stare at his once famous place and—nothing!
Down-to-earth people will move in and take over,
relishing a huge bonanza.
