Verse of the Day 8/6
1 Corinthians 1:8-9 He will also strengthen you to the end, so that you will be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 God is faithful; you were called by Him into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)
In last week's posts we spent most of our time in considering how God was with Joseph, David , and Jacob in the Old Testament as well as how Jesus was with the disciples and others in the New Testament. He was with them to give them strength, hope, courage and peace even when times were hard.
In today's verses Paul tells his readers then and now that God will strengthen us "to the end". It doesn't mean that everything will come to an end, but He will bring us to the end of this life and then carry us into the next. God is faithful, just as He has done it throughout history to those who call upon Him so He will do it for us today as we call on Him "day by day and with each passing moment".
Read the old hymn by that name, my you feel that God is near you today with the mercy needed for the hour.
Day by day and with each passing moment,
Strength I find to meet my trials here;
Trusting in my Father's wise bestowment,
I've no cause for worry or for fear.
He whose heart is kind beyond all measure
Gives unto each day what He deems best--
Lovingly, its part of pain and pleasure,
Mingling toil with peace and rest.
Ev'ry day the Lord Himself is near me
With a special mercy for each hour;
All my cares He fain would bear, and cheer me,
He whose name is Counselor and Pow'r.
The protection of His child and treasure
Is a charge that on Himself He laid;
"As thy days, thy strength shall be in measure,"
This the pledge to me He made.
Read the short passage from The Message below, take to heart when you read, "He will never give up on you. Never forget that." 1 Corinthians 1:9 (The Message).

1 Corinthians 1:4-9 The Message (MSG)
4-6 Every time I think of you—and I think of you often!—I thank God for your lives of free and open access to God, given by Jesus. There's no end to what has happened in you—it's beyond speech, beyond knowledge. The evidence of Christ has been clearly verified in your lives.
7-9 Just think—you don't need a thing, you've got it all! All God's gifts are right in front of you as you wait expectantly for our Master Jesus to arrive on the scene for the Finale. And not only that, but God himself is right alongside to keep you steady and on track until things are all wrapped up by Jesus. God, who got you started in this spiritual adventure, shares with us the life of his Son and our Master Jesus. He will never give up on you. Never forget that.
