Verse of the Day 9/13

Verse of the Day 9/13

Amos 9:6  He who builds His layers in the sky,

And has founded His strata in the earth;
Who calls for the waters of the sea,
And pours them out on the face of the earth—
The Lord is His name.    New King James Version (NKJV)

Last week as I was flying back home to North Carolina from Ohio I looked out the window of the plane as we rose through the clouds and had a beautiful view of the cumulous clouds the were building and actually "had to" take a picture of them.  Yesterday, I was driving home from South Carolina ahead of the approach of hurricane Florence and saw the clouds building ahead of the storm.  When I got home and turned on the weather channel I saw pictures of the massive storm clouds of the approaching storm.

Today's verse came up in my reading through the Old Testament for today.  We will see weather reports in the next couple of days and I'm sure will here many references to "Mother Nature" and perhaps to "climate change" as being what are behind the storm.  But it is God who created the heavens and the earth who creates these things for His purposes.  We don't know what those purposes are, but as Christians should step back and gaze upon the beauty, the power and the majesty of His creation and remember who created this, who brought about these clouds that will dump some rain on us over the next few days.  The Lord is His name.

Read the verses below, whether it is volcanoes in Hawaii or the hurrican approaching the Southeast, God, not mother nature created these and is in control.

Amos 9:5-6 New Living Translation (NLT)

The Lord, the Lord of Heaven's Armies,
touches the land and it melts,
    and all its people mourn.
The ground rises like the Nile River at floodtime,
    and then it sinks again.
The Lord's home reaches up to the heavens,
while its foundation is on the earth.
He draws up water from the oceans
and pours it down as rain on the land.
    The Lord is his name!
