Verse of the Day 3/3
Isaiah 14:24 The Lord of Hosts has sworn:
As I have purposed, so it will be;
as I have planned it, so it will happen. Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)
If we are having a house built, we start out with a plan, with drawings and each room is designed with a purpose in mind. Some have one main purpose and we will have other "multi-purpose" rooms. Building a house doesn't just happen.
God created the world, the universe with a purpose. He has placed you where you are for a purpose.
Don Fortner writes:
We believe, according to the scriptures, that the Lord our God is a God of purpose, absolute and unalterable purpose. Before the world began, Almighty God sovereignly purposed all that ever comes to pass in time. Nothing in this world is left to chance. Everything is moving toward the predetermined end of God's eternal purpose with absolute, precise accuracy.
Even a casual reader of Holy Scripture has to face this fact: The God of the Bible is a God of purpose. The above passages plainly state that the Triune Jehovah is a God of purpose, and clearly teach several things about the purpose of God:
1. The purpose of God is eternal.
2. The purpose of God includes all things.
3. The purpose of God has for its peculiar design the everlasting benefit of God's elect. Everything that God has purposed is for the ultimate, spiritual, and eternal benefit of his covenant people.
4. The purpose of God is immutable and sure. The Lord himself says, "My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure" (Isaiah 46:10). And in its ultimate end, God's purpose will accomplish the eternal salvation of his chosen people and the glory of his own great name.
We may not understand why things happen the way they do, but be assured, that God does have a purpose in it. Today is Super Tuesday, many will be voting for a presidential candidate. It should be thought of carefully with God's purposes in mind. But no matter what happens we should be aware that God is in control. He has purposed, He has planned it, so it will happen. God's plan included sending Jesus as a propitiation for our sins. It also includes His return, and our lives should have purpose in looking forward to that event.

Isaiah 14:24-27 English Standard Version (ESV)
An Oracle Concerning Assyria
24 The Lord of hosts has sworn:
"As I have planned,
so shall it be,
and as I have purposed,
so shall it stand,
25 that I will break the Assyrian in my land,
and on my mountains trample him underfoot;
and his yoke shall depart from them,
and his burden from their shoulder."
26 This is the purpose that is purposed
concerning the whole earth,
and this is the hand that is stretched out
over all the nations.
27 For the Lord of hosts has purposed,
and who will annul it?
His hand is stretched out,
and who will turn it back?
