Verse of the Day 4/13

Verse of the Day 4/13

Matthew 28:5-6   But the angel answered and said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.    New King James Version (NKJV)

Most of you have probably had someone say to you this morning "He is risen!" to which your response was likely "He is risen indeed!".  Today's verses capture that moment in scripture when the announcement was made that Christ had risen from the dead.  I posted this in the New King James Version because it says "He is risen" and not "He has risen" as is stated in many other translations.  The difference is slight, subtle, but it is something that we should think about today.  "Is" is in the present tense.  Yes He has risen, but it "is" helps remind us of the present, He is risen and He is with us, He is no longer dead and will remain alive forever.

We may not be with our church family in person to be able to say to each other "He is risen!, He is risen indeed!"; but we can do so over the phone, on social media and among family members.  We can celebrate His life, we can celebrate life and we can look forward to the day when we can say it face to face with our church congregation.

Since we can't be singing together I thought I'd share a link to "The Easter Song" done by Glad.  It is one of our favorite Easter songs, may it help you to celebrate our risen Savior today.

Matthew 28:5-7 New King James Version (NKJV)

But the angel answered and said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him. Behold, I have told you."
