Verse of the Day 2/5

Verse of the Day 2/5

Psalm 59:16-17. New Living Translation

16 But as for me, I will sing about your power.
    Each morning I will sing with joy about your unfailing love.
For you have been my refuge,
    a place of safety when I am in distress.
17 O my Strength, to you I sing praises,
    for you, O God, are my refuge,
    the God who shows me unfailing love.

My wife Jean is battling Neuro Endocrine cancer and she has been a true cancer warrior.  It is an ongoing battle but one that she has turned over to the Lord, daily. When I read today's verses in a devotional the other morning I couldn't help but think of her and her testimony of faith to family, friends and anyone that knows her.

Recently, Jean had a rough night with severe abdominal pain, when morning came around it was not letting up and we decided that we would go ahead to the hospital.  While on the way and listening to K-Love, we heard the song "God Turn it Around".  Jean began to sing the song as a prayer to God with lifted hands while we were still driving down the road.

Here are some of the words to the song by Jon Reddick and Matt Maher:

I'm praying God come
And turn this thing around
God, turn it around
God, turn it around
God, turn it around
I'm calling on the name
That changes everything, yes
God, turn it around, sing
God, turn it around
God, turn it around

[Chorus: Jon Reddick]
'Cause all of my hope is in the name
The name of Jesus
Breakthrough will come, come in the name
The name of Jesus

Within a few minutes, God answered that prayer and the pain subsided enough to the point that we exited the highway about 5 miles from the exit for the hospital.  We both cried about it and praised God for it.

God has been her refuge, our refuge and He continues to show His unfailing love, and Jean will continue to sing about it and praise God for His love and mercy.

This is not for Jean alone.  As the song reminds us, God is up to something right now.  Pray for someone who needs His help. Encourage someone to pray that God will turn their situation around, in the name of Jesus.

He is up to something
God is doing something
Right now
He is healing someone (Yeah)
He is saving someone
God is doing something
(Right now) Right now
He is healing someone
He is saving someone
God is doing something
Right now
He is moving mountains
Making a way for someone
God is doing something (Yes, He is)
Right now (Right now)

Praise God from whom all blessings flow.

Blessings,
Mike

Psalm 59:16-17
New King James Version

16 But I will sing of Your power;
Yes, I will sing aloud of Your mercy in the morning;
For You have been my defense
And refuge in the day of my trouble.
17 To You, O my Strength, I will sing praises;
For God is my defense,
My God of mercy.
