Verse of the Day 9/27
11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him;12 as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.Psalm 103 came up in my devotions a couple of times over the past few days. Along with chapter 104 they take a look at God's goodness and praise God for His creation and also for His love and compassion which includes forgiveness. David was "after God's heart", he sought Him. But as we can see eslewhere in the Old Testament, he also had some monumental failures. Satan, the Accuser, would have us believe that God would turn His back on someone with such failures. But when we cross the line He offers grace and forgiveness that can restore our relationship.
A.W. Tozer writes, "Do not let any of the things of the world or past mistakes paralyze your hearts. I believe there are Christians who have allowed some of their past mistakes to paralyze them. You were so bright and cheerful in your spiritual life once, and then you made some tragic mistake or had something happen to you. You got out of it somehow, and prayed and wept your way out of it. But it did something to you, and now you cannot lick it. Past wrongs that have been done to you, past failures, times you thought you were going to win and did not, or present sins or discouragement-these things are not mental at all. They are deeper than that; they are subconscious, and they prevent us from believing."
If you've turned away from HIm because of your failures, seek Him, ask for forgiveness and He will remove the barrier.
And to all of the people with burdens and pains
Keeping you back from your life
You believe that there's nothing and there is no one
Who can make it right
There is hope for the helpless
Rest for the weary
And love for the broken heart
And there is grace and forgiveness
Mercy and healing
He'll meet you wherever you are
Cry out to Jesus
Cry out to Jesus
Read the first part of ths psalm below or pick up your Bible and read the whole psalm. May they help you "forget not all His benefits." Don't wallow in the pit.

Ephesians 1:7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace. NIV
Bless the Lord, O My Soul
Of David.
103 Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and all that is within me,
bless his holy name!
2 Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and forget not all his benefits,
3 who forgives all your iniquity,
who heals all your diseases,
4 who redeems your life from the pit,
who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,
5 who satisfies you with good
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.
6 The Lord works righteousness
and justice for all who are oppressed.
7 He made known his ways to Moses,
his acts to the people of Israel.
8 The Lord is merciful and gracious,
slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
9 He will not always chide,
nor will he keep his anger forever.
10 He does not deal with us according to our sins,
nor repay us according to our iniquities.
11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him;
12 as far as the east is from the west,
so far does he remove our transgressions from us.
13 As a father shows compassion to his children,
so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him.
