Verse of the Day 3/3

Through the Bible - Numbers 32-34, Mark 10:35-52

Good morning,
Today is another one of those mornings where I had a verse planned but changed course because of something that I read.
Have you ever used the "recall" feature that is available to retrieve an e-mail that was sent before it was finished or perhaps you wanted to recall because of the content?  You hit the recall button and wait to see if it was successful.  Getting the note that your message has been sucessfully retrieved can bring relief, perhaps ease your conscience.
Do you ever wish that you had the same opportunity with the spoken word or the done deed, to recall it without the recipient knowing the thoughts and intentions behind it?
For today's verse we'll go to Matthew 12 where Jesus had been accused of being the devil.  He had just refuted the pharisee's and told them that a good tree will be known by it's fruit.  Our words reveal what is in our heart, the fruit of our heart.
Matt 12:36 And I tell you this, you must give an account on judgment day for every idle word you speak. 37 The words you say will either acquit you or condemn you."  NLT

J. R. Miller writes, "We cannot recall any word we have spoken. It may be a false word or an unkind word--a word which will blast and burn! Instantly after it has been spoken--we may wish it back and may rush after it and try to stop it--but there is no power in the world that can unsay the hurtful word--or blot it out of our life!

It is just so with our acts. A moment after we have done a wicked thing, we may bitterly repent it. We may be willing to give all we have in the world to undo it, to make it as though it never had been. But in vain. A deed done takes its place in the universe as a fact--and never can be recalled.

We should be sure before we speak a word or do an act--that it is right, that we shall never desire to have it recalled--for when once we have opened our lips, or lifted our hand--there will be no unsaying or undoing possible."
While we do not have a recall button on our words and actions, we do have the opportunity to seek forgiveness and modify the effect of what has been said or done by acts of kindness in humility by God's grace.

The next time you wish you could take something back, don't shrug it off by saying or thinking what's done is done, instead try to deal with the situation in God's grace that something good may come out of it.

Oh, be careful little mouth, what you say,
For the Father up above,
Is looking down in love,
So be careful little
mouth what you say.
Blessings,
Mike

Matt 12:33-38
33 "A tree is identified by its fruit. If a tree is good, its fruit will be good. If a tree is bad, its fruit will be bad. 34 You brood of snakes! How could evil men like you speak what is good and right? For whatever is in your heart determines what you say. 35 A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. 36 And I tell you this, you must give an account on judgment day for every idle word you speak. 37 The words you say will either acquit you or condemn you."   NLT.
