Romans 4:18 (HCSB) He believed, hoping against hope, so that he became the father of many nations according to what had been spoken: So will your descendants be.
In yesterday's verse we read the following about love in the Amplified Bible 1 Cor. 13:7, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances. Think of Abraham's circumstances, 100 years old with a wife that was 90 years old being told that she would conceive a child and that Abraham would be the father of many nation through him. It would be hard to conceive of that.
How many of you have come through or at least know of others who have come through "impossible" circumstances where there was no visible way out?
These verses of hope always bring me back to our son Jeff who say's "hope is my favorite thing to have". We were told that after his accident and subsequent TBI that he would never walk or talk again. Hearing him say those words about home have extra meaning, especially coming after two years of silence when he couldn't, didn't speak.
As for the walking part, he doesn't do so on his own, but with the help of others he can take steps, he can walk. In fact, he can dance.
His speech may not be eloquent, his walk may not even be considered walking by some, his dance may not be a Fred Astaire, but they all came from hope against hope, which is what we know of as faith.
My prayer for you today would be that your "hopes would be fadeless" in all circumstances".
God sent His Son, they call Him Jesus,
He came to love, heal and forgive,
He lived and died to buy my pardon
An empty grave is there to prove my Saviour lives.
Because He lives I can face tomorrow.
That's why we hope against hope.
In Christ,
Mike

Romans 4:16-22
New King James Version (NKJV)
16 Therefore it is of faith that it might be according to grace, so that the promise might be sure to all the seed, not only to those who are of the law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all 17 (as it is written, "I have made you a father of many nations") in the presence of Him whom he believedGod, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did; 18 who, contrary to hope, in hope believed, so that he became the father of many nations, according to what was spoken, "So shall your descendants be." 19 And not being weak in faith, he did not consider his own body, already dead (since he was about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah's womb. 20 He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, 21 and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform. 22 And therefore "it was accounted to him for righteousness."
