Colossians 1:13-14 (ESV) He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
Yesterday in John 1:5 we saw that Jesus is the light and that the darkness has not overcome. Today's verse speaks of the deliverance from the darkness of sin in this world that only he can bring.
In his study Bible, John MacArthur notes that the Greek term for delivered us literally means "to draw to oneself" and "refers to the believers spiritual liberation by God from Satan's kingdom, which in contrast to the realm of light with truth and purity, is the realm of darkness with only deception and wickedness."
The world pulls and tugs at us to follow its way which leads to darkness. Jesus pulls harder and draws us to himself out of the darkness and into his light.
We have been delivered and redeemed. He paid the price and offers forgivess. In light of that, how should we walk, how should we live our lives today?
Blessings,
Mike

Colossians 1:9-14 English Standard Version (ESV)
9 And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, 10 so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. 11 May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy, 12 giving thanks[a] to the Father, who has qualified you[b] to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. 13 He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
