Acts 5:20 "Go and stand in the temple and speak to the people all the words of this Life." English Standard Version (ESV)
In this passage, Peter who had denied Jesus three times before Jesus' crucifixion, now spoke with boldness. He and other apostles had been arrested and miraculously delivered from prison. When freed, they went right on preaching, with no fear, the wonderful words of Jesus' life. Some translations use a small "l" in life, while others use a capital "L", highlighting the significance of this Life of the Son of God.
Whether it be at a church service, a Bible study or perhaps a conference, isn't that what we come to hear, the words of this Life, the life of Jesus and what He alone can offer to us? And if we are in a position of leading a small group, teaching a lesson or participating in a study with the opportunity to speak, isn't that what we are to be sharing with others? There should be no stopping us.
Peter and the other apostle's testimony was of Jesus overcoming, overcoming obstacles, overcoming objections, overcoming the grave and death and offering life, eternal life that we also may be overcomers here and beyond the grave. I'm reminded of the song that is out "Overcomer". The lyrics remind us that He is with us right now, the Great I Am is with us and for us that we too may be an overcomer.
You're an overcomer
Stay in the fight 'til the final round
You're not going under
'Cause God is holding you right now
You might be down for a moment
Feeling like it's hopeless
That's when He reminds You
That you're an overcomer
You're an overcomer
Stay in the fight 'til the final round
You're not going under
'Cause God is holding you right now
You might be down for a moment
Feeling like it's hopeless
That's when He reminds You
That you're an overcomer
You're an overcomer
If you're an overcomer, may you be ready to share with others words of His Life that have been working in you.
Acts 5:20
The Message (MSG)
To Obey God Rather than Men
17-20 Provoked mightily by all this, the Chief Priest and those on his side, mainly the sect of Sadducees, went into action, arrested the apostles and put them in the town jail. But during the night an angel of God opened the jailhouse door and led them out.He said, "Go to the Temple and take your stand. Tell the people everything there is to say about this Life."
Promptly obedient, they entered the Temple at daybreak and went on with their teaching.
