Hebrews 12:28 Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe, English Standard Version (ESV)
I read today's verse this morning and the mention of being grateful made me think of being Thankful to God for our salvation, today, tomorrow which is Thanksgiving Day, and every day. The verse speaks of being grateful for having received a kingdom that cannot be shaken.
Yesterday we considered "Standing on the promises, holding onto our faith "when the storms of doubt and fear assail". The faith that holds on, the faith that sees through, is what came to my mind as a faith to be grateful for, to be thankful for. It is not something that is of ourselves, that comes from us, it is a gift of the grace of God. The Holman Christian Study Bible translates the verse this way "since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us hold on to grace."
We will face storms and trials in life, our world may be shaken, but when we hold on in the grace, in the strength that God provides, when we see through it, may it be said it is because we have believe in Jesus, we believe in God and through faith we have a kingdom that cannot be shaken. May we be able to give thanks for that over the next few days. The Message paraphrases it this way, " Do you see what we've got? An unshakable kingdom! And do you see how thankful we must be? Not only thankful, but brimming with worship."
May we truly give thanks, brimming with worship..
GIVE THANKS
WITH A GRATEFUL HEART
GIVE THANKS
TO THE HOLY ONE
GIVE THANKS
FOR HE'S GIVEN
JESUS CHRIST, HIS SON
AND NOW LET THE WEAK SAY
I AM STRONG
LET THE POOR SAY
I AM RICH
BECAUSE OF WHAT
THE LORD HAS DONE
FOR US
GIVE THANKS...
In Christ,
Mike

Hebrews 12:27-29The Message (MSG)
25-27 So don't turn a deaf ear to these gracious words. If those who ignored earthly warnings didn't get away with it, what will happen to us if we turn our backs on heavenly warnings? His voice that time shook the earth to its foundations; this timehe's told us this quite plainlyhe'll also rock the heavens: "One last shaking, from top to bottom, stem to stern." The phrase "one last shaking" means a thorough housecleaning, getting rid of all the historical and religious junk so that the unshakable essentials stand clear and uncluttered.
28-29 Do you see what we've got? An unshakable kingdom! And do you see how thankful we must be? Not only thankful, but brimming with worship, deeply reverent before God. For God is not an indifferent bystander.
