Jeremiah 1:12 Then the Lord said to me, "You have seen well, for I am watching over my word to perform it." English Standard Version (ESV)
Minutes after writing yesterday's post from Psalm 119 which said "open my eyes that I may see", I read the following verse as an introduction to a new chapter in John Piper's "Peculiar Glory" which starts out with the Lord stating "you have seen well". Isn't that, shouldn't that be the desire of anyone who reads God's Word, that we would see what He has to say to us and that God would say to us "you have seen well"?The passage starts out with "before I shaped you in the womb, I knew all about you". He knows who we are and where we are in our lives and He also knows where we are and where we need to be in His Word. Think about this statement "I am watching over my word to perform it." Think of all of the Old Testament prophecies about Jesus that were fulfilled with His coming. Think of how may other things are waiting to be fulfilled. We can be confident that He is in control, watching over His Word to perform it.
So it is with us. God has a plan for us and He will use His word to guide and shape us. He is watching over us as He is watching over His word to perform it.
We need not worry about the how, what, where and when, God will see us through. Have no fear, God is looking after you.
Don't be afraid of a soul.
I'll be right there, looking after you."
God's Decree. v.8 (The Message)
-- In Christ, Mike Folllow the Verse of the Day blog at http://mikesvotd.blogspot.com Ephesians 1:7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace. NIV
This is what God said:
5 "Before I shaped you in the womb,
I knew all about you.
Before you saw the light of day,
I had holy plans for you:
A prophet to the nations—
that's what I had in mind for you."
6 But I said, "Hold it, Master God! Look at me.
I don't know anything. I'm only a boy!"
7-8 God told me, "Don't say, 'I'm only a boy.'
I'll tell you where to go and you'll go there.
I'll tell you what to say and you'll say it.
Don't be afraid of a soul.
I'll be right there, looking after you."
God's Decree.
9-10 God reached out, touched my mouth, and said,
"Look! I've just put my words in your mouth—hand-delivered!
See what I've done? I've given you a job to do
among nations and governments—a red-letter day!
Your job is to pull up and tear down,
take apart and demolish,
And then start over,
building and planting."
Stand Up and Say Your Piece
11-12 God's Message came to me: "What do you see, Jeremiah?"
I said, "A walking stick—that's all."
And God said, "Good eyes! I'm sticking with you.
I'll make every word I give you come true."
