Verse of the Day 9/15
2 Corinthians 9:8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. English Standard Version (ESV)
As I was completing the post the other day from 2 Corinthians 10 which stated that "my grace is sufficient" for you, a couple of songs came to mind. One of them "In Me" by Casting Crowns came to mind, especially the line below which states "I'll never get by, living on my own ability."Cause when I'm weak, You make me strong
When I'm blind, You shine Your light on me
Cause I'll never get by living on my own ability
How refreshing to know You don't need me
How amazing to find that you want me
So I'll stand on Your truth, and I'll fight with Your strength
Until You bring the victory, by the power of Christ in me
All too often that is what we try to do, get by on our own ability, which, just as often, comes up short. But when we rely and trust in God and His Word, to provide the grace and the power, we can achieve what God's will is for us by the power of Christ in us. Don't limit God by saying or thinking, "I can't do that", it is not in me.
David Jeremiah writes, "Because God is able, we are able. When we say, "I can't give, love, forgive, reconcile, repent, be kind, be compassionate, be content . . ." we are saying, "God isn't able to make that grace abound to me....Don't limit yourself by limiting God. Let His grace abound to you." David JeremiahQuite often, God gives us just enough for the day, "our daily bread". That isn't the case with His grace, he lavishes it upon us, he piles it on, grace upon grace so that it abounds, it overflows beyond us and accomplishes what he intends for others. May we have this grace that never runs, never wears out.
He throws caution to the winds,
giving to the needy in reckless abandon.
His right-living, right-giving ways
never run out, never wear out. The Message

2 Corinthians 9:8-11The Message (MSG)
8-11 God can pour on the blessings in astonishing ways so that you're ready for anything and everything, more than just ready to do what needs to be done. As one psalmist puts it,
He throws caution to the winds,
giving to the needy in reckless abandon.
His right-living, right-giving ways
never run out, never wear out.
This most generous God who gives seed to the farmer that becomes bread for your meals is more than extravagant with you. He gives you something you can then give away, which grows into full-formed lives, robust in God, wealthy in every way, so that you can be generous in every way, producing with us great praise to God.
