Verse of the Day 12/11

Verse of the Day 12/11

1 Corinthians 1:8-9  who will sustain you to the end, guiltless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.  English Standard Version (ESV)

I read a devotional yesterday that was about God's faithfulness, pointing out that God is faithful not because of our sentiments, our feelings, but because His Word says He is.  He is faithful and cannot go against His nature and character.  He is holy and He  alone is God and He is near even when we don't feel His presence.  Trillia Newbell writes, "When your sins and guilt tell you that you are unloved, the Bible tells us that Jesus came out of great love and has removed the stain of sin from your life.  When you fail, struggle and question your worth, the Bible says that your identity as a Christian is found in Christ."

I posted a song sung by the Brooklyn Tabernacle choir "He's Been Faithful to Me".  The song reminded me of a person that sang in the choir of our church back in Illinois.  Joyce has gone on to be with the Lord, but her life exemplified the song.  Through trials and pain she still saw God as being faithful.

In my moments of Fear
Though Every Pain Every Tear
There's A God Who's Been Faithful To Me
When My Strength Was All Gone
When My Heart Had No Song
Still In Love He's Proved Faithful To Me
Every Word He's Promised Is True
What I Thought Was Impossible
I've Seen My God Do
He's Been Faithful
Faithful To Me
He's been faithful, faithful to me
Looking Back He's Love And Mercy I See
Though In My Heart I Have Questioned
And Failed To Believe
He's Been Faithful, Faithful To Me
When My Heart Looked Away
The Many Times I Could Not Pray
Still My God Was Faithful To Me
The Days Are Spent So Selfishly
Reaching Out For What Pleased Me
Even Then God Was Faithful To Me
Every Time I Come Back To Him
He Is Waiting with Open Arms
And I See Once Again

He's been faithful, faithful to me.       (Damaris Carbaugh)
The "Hall of Faith" in Hebrews is full of examples of people that saw God as faithful through the trials, temptations and challenges of life.  God proved faithful to them and there faith in Him is a testimony to the life of faith.  Take some time to consider who you would include in your "Hall of Faith".  Praise God for them, praise God for His faithfulness to them, and may you praise God that He has been " faithful and absolutely trustworthy" (Amplified Bible) to you too.

1 Thessalonians 5:24Amplified Bible (AMP)

24 Faithful and absolutely trustworthy is He who is calling you [to Himself for your salvation], and He will do it [He will fulfill His call by making you holy, guarding you, watching over you, and protecting you as His own].

He will never give up on you. Never forget that. (1 Corinthians 1:9B The Message)

1 Corinthians 1:8-9The Message (MSG)

7-9 Just think—you don't need a thing, you've got it all! All God's gifts are right in front of you as you wait expectantly for our Master Jesus to arrive on the scene for the Finale. And not only that, but God himself is right alongside to keep you steady and on track until things are all wrapped up by Jesus. God, who got you started in this spiritual adventure, shares with us the life of his Son and our Master Jesus. He will never give up on you. Never forget that.
