Verse of the Day 5/17
2 Corinthians 10:5 We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ, English Standard Version (ESV)
I like the way The Message begins this short passage, "The world is unprincipled. It's a dog-eat-dog world out there!" Isn't that the truth! We are bombarded by so much information, distortions, lies and half -truths that if left unfiltered, they can bring on worry, stress and all sorts of evil thoughts. But we don't have to give in to any of it, instead we can "filter" these thoughts, arguments and lofty opinions of the world through the Word God and the teaching of Jesus Christ.
Pastor James MacDonald writes, "Strongholds are torn down by repentance, but it still requires daily attention to keep them defeated -not by physical effort, but by taking "every thought captive to obey Christ." 2 Corinthians 10:5. Every thought! This means: No more unfiltered thoughts."
What thoughts have been bringing you down, causing you to fret and worry, to be down on yourself or others? Don't pay attention to them, turn from them (repent) and turn them over to God and His Word as your filter, if they don't line up with what God's Word says, cast them aside, ignore them and focus on what God would have you do, turn them over to Him and let Him enable you to overcome them.
The same power that moves mountains when He speaks
The same power that can calm a raging sea
Lives in us, lives in us
He lives in us, lives in us
The same power that can calm a raging sea
Lives in us, lives in us
He lives in us, lives in us
We have hope
That His promises are true
In His strength
There is nothing we can't do
Yes, we know
There are greater things in store
We will not be overtaken
We will not be overcome (Jeremy Camp)
That His promises are true
In His strength
There is nothing we can't do
Yes, we know
There are greater things in store
We will not be overtaken
We will not be overcome (Jeremy Camp)
Blessings,
Mike
2 Corinthians 10:5-6 The Message (MSG)
3-6 The world is unprincipled. It's dog-eat-dog out there! The world doesn't fight fair. But we don't live or fight our battles that way—never have and never will. The tools of our trade aren't for marketing or manipulation, but they are for demolishing that entire massively corrupt culture. We use our powerful God-tools for smashing warped philosophies, tearing down barriers erected against the truth of God, fitting every loose thought and emotion and impulse into the structure of life shaped by Christ. Our tools are ready at hand for clearing the ground of every obstruction and building lives of obedience into maturity.
