Verse of the Day 10/5
John 14:26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. New King James Version (NKJV)
Most of us are aware that the worship of our God changed from the traditional Sabbath worship of the Old Testament to Sunday worship for the Christian church to Sunday after the resurrection of Jesus. But have you given much thought to it beyond that?
Mark Johnston writes, "The transition from old to new covenant epochs changed the day of this Sabbath celebration but also changed its benefit. It took it to a whole new plane, from anticipating God's promised salvation to its realization in Christ. The day also changed to the first day of the week, marking the inauguration of God's new creation through Christ's resurrection as its focus. It was invested with further benediction through the outpouring of the Spirit at Pentecost – which also fell on the first day of the week."
Think about that for a moment. The Jews looked and continue to look for the Messiah in anticipation but we have the realization of what He has done for us. We have it now and it comes with power (Acts 1:8) , the power of the Spirit, coming alongside to help us day by day.
Most of us worshiped in church or online yesterday, but let us live this day in the realization of what He has done for us and what He brings to us as the fountain of living water. Read the rest of the passage and think about what it means to you.

John 14:25-31 English Standard Version (ESV)
25 "These things I have spoken to you while I am still with you. 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. 28 You heard me say to you, 'I am going away, and I will come to you.' If you loved me, you would have rejoiced, because I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. 29 And now I have told you before it takes place, so that when it does take place you may believe. 30 I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming. He has no claim on me, 31 but I do as the Father has commanded me, so that the world may know that I love the Father. Rise, let us go from here.
