Verse of the Day 3/2
Exodus 3:5-6 Then He said, "Do not draw near this place. Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground." 6 Moreover He said, "I am the God of your father—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob." And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look upon God. New King James Version (NKJV)
For today's verses we'll go to the book of Exodus where God reveals Himself to Abraham. You'll notice that He just didn't speak to Him directly "out of the blue" , but first caught Moses attention by the burning bush that was not consumed. God used that event to catch Moses attention and then reveal Himself to Moses through that.
Many of us have gone through things that we don't understand and perhaps have questioned God about. We may wonder what is going on but it just could be that God will be using the event, the circumstances to get our attention and draw us to Him where He will speak to us, prompt us in His Word or by His Spirit to where we will listen.
This passage came up in my Old Testament Bible reading yesterday and then came up in a devotional that I read this morning from Pastor Greg Laurie. I love it when things like that happen. Pastor Laurie writes, "Maybe you're going through something right now and you're saying, "This doesn't fit any narrative. This isn't logical. In fact, it seems quite illogical." The Lord is preparing you, just as He prepared Moses....Let's consider the burning bush for a moment. It isn't unusual to see a bush catch fire, but it doesn't keep burning. God used something out of the ordinary to get Moses's attention, and then He spoke."
We are all facing things right now that are out of the ordinary and even illogical with the COVID pandemic and the things surrounding it. But don't let these circumstances and questions that arise out of it turn us from God. They should be drawing us to Him. What kind of lessons are we being taught? What kind of opportunities will we have to share the gospel because of it? Who knows; God does. Moses was brought to that place for that time. God had set apart the place as Holy, and chose Moses to be set apart to do His will. Can you think of other instances in the Bible where God brought things together for His purposes? Go
Esther 4:14 For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father's house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?" New King James Version (NKJV)

Exodus 3:1-6 New King James Version (NKJV)
Moses at the Burning Bush
3 Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian. And he led the flock to the back of the desert, and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. 2 And the Angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush. So he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, but the bush was not consumed. 3 Then Moses said, "I will now turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush does not burn."
4 So when the Lord saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, "Moses, Moses!"
And he said, "Here I am."
5 Then He said, "Do not draw near this place. Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground." 6 Moreover He said, "I am the God of your father—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob." And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look upon God.
