Verse of the Day 4/2
Romans 3:25-26 For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood. This sacrifice shows that God was being fair when he held back and did not punish those who sinned in times past, 26 for he was looking ahead and including them in what he would do in this present time. God did this to demonstrate his righteousness, for he himself is fair and just, and he makes sinners right in his sight when they believe in Jesus. New Living Translation (NLT)
My daily reading in the Old Testament this morning brought me to Deuteronomy 33 where Moses asked God in verse 18 "show me your glory". God proceeded to hide him in the cleft of the rock and allowed Moses to see His glory pass by.
I read today's verses in a devotional this morning and the focus on the cross made me think of Moses request. How many of us have made a similar request? Perhaps it was asking for a miracle but when you think about what God did for us on the cross and then through the resurrection, what more could we need to see in our minds? As the NLT above begins these verses for "for God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sins."
When we see images of the cross today may we be reminded of what Jesus accomplished for us and glory in it. I'm reminded of one of my favorite Larnelle Harris songs, "I Will Glory In the Cross". It's a powerful song and a reminder of what our focus should be on this Good Friday. If you have the chance listen to the song for greater impact.
I boast not of works nor tell of good deeds
For not have I done to merit His grace
All glory and praise shall rest upon Him
So willing to die in my place
For not have I done to merit His grace
All glory and praise shall rest upon Him
So willing to die in my place
My trophies and crowns, my robe stained with sin
Was all that I had to lay at His feet
Unworthy to eat from the table of life
'Til love made provision for me
Was all that I had to lay at His feet
Unworthy to eat from the table of life
'Til love made provision for me
So I will glory in the cross, in the cross
Lest His suffering all be in vain
And I will weep no more for the cross that He bore
I will glory in the cross
Lest His suffering all be in vain
And I will weep no more for the cross that He bore
I will glory in the cross

Romans 3:21-26 New King James Version (NKJV)
God's Righteousness Through Faith
21 But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22 even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all [a]and on all who believe. For there is no difference; 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified [b]freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God set forth as a [c]propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, 26 to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.
