Verse of the Day 10/27
Deuteronomy 32:2-3English Standard Version
Deuteronomy 32:2-3
English Standard Version
2 May my teaching drop as the rain,
my speech distill as the dew,like gentle rain upon the tender grass,
and like showers upon the herb.
3 For I will proclaim the name of the Lord;
ascribe greatness to our God!
The nation had already gone through plenty of ups and downs, plenty of wandering, roaming about the desert. Moses was preparing them to move into the promised land but as they experienced, and we see as we read through the pages that follow in the Old Testament, it would not be life on easy street.
The nation had spent years in the desert and the words of rain and dew in themselves would have felt refreshing. Moses statement if verse three is a message to proclaim the greatness of God for His blessings, for His greatness.
When we think of the world today and the spiritual condition of the country or countries that we live in, it is easy to see how the spiritual landscape is like a desert in need of the dew in the morning and the gentle rain to bring relief and encourage growth. May that be our desire today, to hear His Word, that it would revive and refresh us and that our speech would proclaim His Word, the Gospel message that Jesus saves.
- We have heard the joyful sound:
Jesus saves! Jesus saves!
Spread the tidings all around:
Jesus saves! Jesus saves!
Bear the news to every land,
Climb the mountains, cross the waves;
Onward! 'tis our Lord's command;
Jesus saves! Jesus saves! - Waft it on the rolling tide:
Jesus saves! Jesus saves!
Tell to sinners far and wide:
Jesus saves! Jesus saves!
Sing, you islands of the sea;
Echo back, you ocean caves;
Earth shall keep her jubilee:
Jesus saves! Jesus saves! - Give the winds a mighty voice:
Jesus saves! Jesus saves!
Let the nations now rejoice:
Jesus saves! Jesus saves!
Shout salvation full and free;
Highest hills and deepest caves;
This our song of victory:
Jesus saves! Jesus saves!
Blessings,
Mike
