Verse of the Day 11/23

Verse of the Day 11/23

Psalm 100:4-5. Holman Christian Standard Bible

Enter His gates with thanksgiving
and His courts with praise.
Give thanks to Him and praise His name.
For Yahweh is good, and His love is eternal;
His faithfulness endures through all generations.

Most of us will be getting together with family and friends to celebrate Thanksgiving from now through the coming weekend.  In many household several generations will "gather together" and share memories and give thanks for God's blessings and His provision for us over the years.  In our home we will have 4 generations of our family represented, kids, parents, grandparents and great grandparents.  We will also remember those whom have gone before us but are still are in our hearts and minds.   For our family, that would make it six generations of blessings going back to the late 1800's.  (My grandfather was born in 1898.)

Verse 5 gives us a good starting point for the things to praise God for and to be thankful for - God is good all the time, all the time God is good; His love is eternal - it never ends; and His faithfulness has been there through all of our generations and for generations to come until the Lord returns to bring us to our eternal home where we will meet our family members again.

As you gather over the next few days, take some time to remember God's blessings to all of the generations in your family that can be remembered and praise Him for them.  Perhaps take a few minutes to sing a hymn or a chorus of thanks as you sit down for the Thanksgiving meal.

Give thanks with a grateful heart
Give thanks to the Holy One
Give thanks because He's given Jesus Christ, His Son

And now let the weak say, "I am strong"
Let the poor say, "I am rich
Because of what the Lord has done for us"

Numbers 6:24-26 Holman Christian Standard Bible

24 May Yahweh bless you and protect you;
25 may Yahweh make His face shine on you
and be gracious to you;
26 may Yahweh look with favor on you and give you peace.

Blessings,
Mike

Be Thankful

A psalm of thanksgiving.

Shout triumphantly to the Lord, all the earth.
Serve the Lord with gladness;
come before Him with joyful songs.
Acknowledge that Yahweh is God.
He made us, and we are His[a] —
His people, the sheep of His pasture.
Enter His gates with thanksgiving
and His courts with praise.
Give thanks to Him and praise His name.
For Yahweh is good, and His love is eternal;
His faithfulness endures through all generations.
