Verse of the Day 11/3

Verse of the Day 11/3

Romans 8:38-39
New International Version

38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,
neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I concluded yesterday's post with some words from Rich Mullin's song, "My Deliever" which stated "my Deliverer is coming, my Deliverer is standing by; He will never break His promise though the stars should break faith with the sky, my Deliverer is coming".  That song was going through my mind all day yesterday and again this morning when I woke  Then, a little later this morning, two of the devotionals that I read were from two of my favorite chapters in the Bible Romans 8 and Hebrews chapter 11.  The word that jumped out of the two passages was convinced, "for I am convinced".  I realized that the reason that the song had resonated in my mind was that I too "am convinced".  How blessed we are if we can say that in spite of trials of various kinds in our lives.

Hebrews 11:1-2. New English Translation
11 Now faith is being sure of what we hope for, being convinced of what we do not see. For by it the people of old received God's commendation.

Now, if you have that same conviction, go back and read the verses, the passage again.  Perhaps you'll have a translation that uses different words for convince, but they all mean the same thing - persuaded, convinced, sure.  May that resonate in your heart and mind today, nothing, no nothing can separate you from the love of Christ.

I'll close with an old hymn that sums up what is coming out of my heart in praise to God for these great promises.

  1. I know not why God's wondrous grace
To me He hath made known,
Nor why, unworthy, Christ in love
    Redeemed me for His own.
    • Refrain:
But "I know Whom I have believed,
And am persuaded that He is able
To keep that which I've committed
      Unto Him against that day."

Blessings,
Mike

Ephesians 1:7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace.  NIV

Romans 8:32-39
New International Version

32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? 33 Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. 34 Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36 As it is written:

"For your sake we face death all day long;
we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered."[a]

37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[b]

neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
