Verse of the Day 12/1

Verse of the Day 12/1

Proverbs 3:3-4
Holman Christian Standard Bible

Never let loyalty and faithfulness leave you.
Tie them around your neck;
write them on the tablet of your heart.
Then you will find favor and high regard
in the sight of God and man.

I read today's verses in my devotions this morning.  Each day I read a portion of Proverbs so that I go through the book about 3 time in a year.  Proverbs gives us constant reminders of things that we should take to heart and put into action in our lives.  Today's verses begin with "never let" in the HCSB, other translations "let not" or "don't allow" faithfulness and steadfast love leave you.  They should be part of who we are and if they are not, we have let them go, let them leave to be replaced by their opposites.

We are instructed to write them on our hearts and hang them around our necks.  We are to take them to hear and they should be worn, put on display in our words, actions and interactions with others.

My New Testament reading this morning was in 1 Peter where he expounds on these principles:

2 Peter 1:5-7
Holman Christian Standard Bible

For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with goodness, goodness with knowledge, knowledge with self-control, self-control with endurance, endurance with godliness, godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love.

Don't let, don't allow faithfulness and steadfast love to "leave you".  Instead, supplement them with the qualities mentioned above and you will "win favor" and "high regard" with God and man.

Blessings,
Mike
