Verse of the Day 1/11

Verse of the Day 1/11

1 Peter 5:10
New King James Version

10 But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while,
perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.

Today's verses serve as a benediction for this letter from Peter.  He focuses on God's grace which is multifaceted and is powerful enough to overcome the trials and challenges in life that we all will face.  Paul wrote of his "momentary affllictions" (which were much more than that in my opinion" and James told us to "count it all joy" when we experience various trials.  God's grace is sufficieent for all the troubles under the rainbow.

John Piper writes, "God is not the God of some grace — like bygone grace. He is "the God of all grace" — including the infinite, inexhaustible stores of future grace that we need to endure to the end......Faith in that future grace, strengthened by the memory of past grace, is the key to enduring on the narrow and hard road that leads to life."

What trials or challenges are you facing today?  My prayer for you is that you may be strengthened by God's multifaceted grace.

1 O God, our Help in ages past,
our Hope for years to come,
our Shelter from the stormy blast,
and our eternal Home.

2 Under the shadow of Thy throne
Thy saints have dwelt secure;
sufficient is Thine arm alone,
and our defense is sure.

3 Before the hills in order stood,
or earth received its frame,
from everlasting Thou art God,
to endless years the same.

4 A thousand ages in Thy sight
are like an evening gone,
short as the watch that ends the night
before the rising sun.

5 Time, like an ever-rolling stream
bears all its sons away;
they fly forgotten, as a dream
dies at the op'ning day.

Blessings,
Mike

1 Peter 5:6-11
New King James Version

Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

Be [a]sober, be [b]vigilant; [c]because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. 10 But [d]may the God of all grace, who called [e]us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. 11 To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.
