Verse of the Day 2/1

Verse of the Day 2/1

Deuteronomy 6:4-5
New International Version

Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.  Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.

Today's verses came up today in a couple of the devotions that I read this morning.  When that happens I often feel prompted to share those verses.  Devout Jews recite the "Shema", which means "hear", every day.  It is a good habit to get into.  Reading the verses and passage today cause me to look at it in a slightly different way.  Recently, I had posted from Matthew 18 where the disciples asked Jesus, "Who, then, is the greatest".

The verses above state, "The Lord is One".  He is the greatest, no question and that "One" includes Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  We are to love God with all our hearts, souls and strength.  To do so He must be in and on our minds and not just as a passing thought.

Read through the passage below.  Talk about them, talk about the Lord as you converse with friends and family today.  Turn on Christian radio and sing some songs of praise and adoration to Him.

I love you Lord And I lift my voice To worship you, Oh my soul rejoice. Take joy my king In what you hear, Let it be a sweet, Sweet sound in your ear. In your ear.

Blessings,
Mike

Ephesians 1:7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace.  NIV

Deuteronomy 6:4-9
New International Version

Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.
