Verse of the Day 2/2
1 Corinthians 2:9-10New Living Translation
1 Corinthians 2:9-10
New Living Translation
When we're young we probably don't spend a lot of time thinking about what heaven will be like, but as we grow older and go through the trials and challenges of life and perhaps have faced death, we tend to think and yearn for it more. Today's verses speak of that, saying we can't see with our eyes or hear with our ears or even imagine what God has in store for us.
I believe, that if we're mature in our faith that we don't picture heaven as the happy hunting ground or have visions of playing golf or other recreations in heaven. I believe that those things, the things of earth will "grow strangely dim" in the light of His glory and grace. We will be blown away by it, amazed every day for eternity.
For me, Mercy Me's song "I Can Only Imagine" captures the spirit of anticiapation of the Christian.
I can only imagine
What it will be like
When I walk by Your side
I can only imagine
What my eyes will see
When Your face is before me
I can only imagine, yeah
[Chorus]
Surrounded by Your glory
What will my heart feel?
Will I dance for You, Jesus
Or in awe of You, be still?
Will I stand in Your presence
Or to my knees, will I fall?
Will I sing hallelujah?
Will I be able to speak at all?
I can only imagine
I can only imagine
[Verse 2]
I can only imagine
When that day comes
And I find myself
Standing in the sun
I can only imagine
When all I will do
Is forever, forever worship You
I can only imagine, yeah
I can only imagine
What it will be like
When I walk by Your side
I can only imagine
What my eyes will see
When Your face is before me
I can only imagine, yeah
[Chorus]
Surrounded by Your glory
What will my heart feel?
Will I dance for You, Jesus
Or in awe of You, be still?
Will I stand in Your presence
Or to my knees, will I fall?
Will I sing hallelujah?
Will I be able to speak at all?
I can only imagine
I can only imagine
[Verse 2]
I can only imagine
When that day comes
And I find myself
Standing in the sun
I can only imagine
When all I will do
Is forever, forever worship You
I can only imagine, yeah
I can only imagine
James Smith writes:
In Heaven . . .
sin is banished,
is perfected,
life is a continual feast, and
mortality is swallowed up in life!
From Heaven . . .
all pain is banished,
all enemies are excluded, and
all causes of sorrow are shut out!
In Heaven . . .
all our prayers are answered,
all our desires are gratified, and
all our needs are supplied.
There is no weeping, wailing or wishing there.
In Heaven . . .
our knowledge will be perfect,
our happiness will be abiding,
our pleasures will be ever new.
In Heaven we shall . . .
see Jesus,
be with Jesus, and
be like Jesus, forever!
I can only imagine.
Blessings,
Mike

1 Corinthians 2:6-13New Living Translation
1 Corinthians 2:6-13
New Living Translation
6 Yet when I am among mature believers, I do speak with words of wisdom, but not the kind of wisdom that belongs to this world or to the rulers of this world, who are soon forgotten. 7 No, the wisdom we speak of is the mystery of God[a]—his plan that was previously hidden, even though he made it for our ultimate glory before the world began. 8 But the rulers of this world have not understood it; if they had, they would not have crucified our glorious Lord. 9 That is what the Scriptures mean when they say,
"No eye has seen, no ear has heard,
and no mind has imagined
what God has prepared
for those who love him."[b]
10 But[c] it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God's deep secrets. 11 No one can know a person's thoughts except that person's own spirit, and no one can know God's thoughts except God's own Spirit. 12 And we have received God's Spirit (not the world's spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us.
13 When we tell you these things, we do not use words that come from human wisdom. Instead, we speak words given to us by the Spirit, using the Spirit's words to explain spiritual truths.[d]
