Verse of the Day 8.7

Verse of the Day 8/7

Romans 8:37-39
New King James Version

37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Today's verses came up in my read through the New Testament plan. Romans 8 is my favorite chapter in the Bible, in large part due to this passage which has been so important, such an anchor for me in lifes storms and challenges.  Verse 32 states, "if God is for us, who can be against us?".   We can and will have people and challenges in life that seem to be against us, but God is for us.  He will see us through.

Verse 37 above says "in all these things" which encompasses all the things that the world can throw at us.  Our part is to be persuaded, convinced that this is so.  This requires faith, a faith that itself is steadfast and secure.  We go to another favorite passage that backs this up.

Hebrews 11:1-2
New King James Version

By Faith We Understand

11 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good testimony.

Think about the words used here to describe faith.  Substance of things hoped for.  Evidence of things not seen. Though we don't see it, faith is substantive and we see the evidence from those who have gone before us and shown us and shown us the way.

Blessings,
Mike

Romans 8:31-39
New King James Version

God's Everlasting Love

31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? 33 Who shall bring a charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written:

"For Your sake we are killed all day long;
We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter."
