Verse of the Day 12/8

Verse of the Day 12/8

Luke 2:10-11  And the angel said to them, "Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.   English Standard Version (ESV)

In yesterday's post we considered Jesus' call to "do something" for "the least of these", those who are often ignored and overlooked in life. Part of "doing something", along with physical help, should be to share the good news of Jesus.

Many are facing uncertainties in life, where will my next meal come from, will there be another paycheck, will I be healed, will a relationship survive, will I be able to have a child.  We may not get answers immediately and we may not  get the answers that we are hoping for but we can have the assurance that there is a hope a hope that rests in the Creator of the world and our Savior who came to earth to bring comfort, peace and hope to to downtrodden, the overlooked and ignored.

Pastor Greg Laurie writes, "No matter what happens in life, remember this: You have a Savior. As a Christian, you have been saved from death. You have been saved from eternal punishment and hell. You have the hope that when you die, you will go straight to heaven. That is the most important thing about the Christian life. There is a heaven waiting for you. You have a Savior."

As stated in "O Little Town of Bethlehem", the hopes and fears of all the years are met" in Him.  We celebrate His birth at Christmas but He lives every day of the year and because He lives we have hope.

God sent his son, they called him Jesus,
He came to love, heal and forgive.
He lived and died to buy my pardon,
An empty grave is there to prove my savior lives.
Because he lives
I can face tomorrow
Because he lives
All fear is gone
Because i know he holds the future
And life is worth the living
Just because he lives

Luke 2:10-12The Message (MSG)

An Event for Everyone

8-12 There were sheepherders camping in the neighborhood. They had set night watches over their sheep. Suddenly, God's angel stood among them and God's glory blazed around them. They were terrified. The angel said, "Don't be afraid. I'm here to announce a great and joyful event that is meant for everybody, worldwide: A Savior has just been born in David's town, a Savior who is Messiah and Master. This is what you're to look for: a baby wrapped in a blanket and lying in a manger."
