Verse of the Day 11/18

Through the Bible - Ezekiel 21, James 3       

 

Good morning,

Yesterday we were encouraged, in Psalm 37, not to fret, because the Lord's hand would be supporting us and lifting us up.

 

For today's verse we'll go to Isaiah 48 which encourages us that it is the Lord who leads us in the way we should go.  If we walk with Him, hand in hand, as it were, we will find peace.

Isaiah 48:17-18 (Amplified Bible) Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: I am the Lord your God, Who teaches you to profit, Who leads you in the way that you should go.

¹⁸Oh, that you had hearkened to My commandments! Then your peace and prosperity would have been like a flowing river, and your righteousness [the holiness and purity of the nation] like the [abundant] waves of the sea.

Do you have a peace that flows, that comes upon you day by day as surely as the waves along the shore?

 

We've vacationed a couple of times on the beaches of North Carolina.  We rented a condo overlooking the beach.  I enjoyed getting up in the morning, going out on the balcony watching the sun rise and having devotions while listening to the steady sound of the surf on the beach.  It was peaceful and the time spent with God was uplifting.

 

If we hope and long for such a peace in our everyday lives it comes as we follow His lead, 'hearken' to Him no matter  the surroundings.

 

Read the words to the old hymn, "Like a River Glorious".  May you experience His peace today, trusting Him wholly and finding Him wholly true..

 

Like a river glorious, is God's perfect peace,
Over all victorious, in its bright increase;
Perfect, yet it floweth, fuller every day,
Perfect, yet it groweth, deeper all the way.

 

Stayed upon Jehovah, hearts are fully blest
Finding, as He promised, perfect peace and rest.

 

Hidden in the hollow of His blessed hand,
Never foe can follow, never traitor stand;
Not a surge of worry, not a shade of care,
Not a blast of hurry touch the spirit there.

 

Every joy or trial falleth from above,
Traced upon our dial by the Sun of Love;
We may trust Him fully all for us to do.
They who trust Him wholly find Him wholly true.

Isaiah 48:16-19 (New King James Version)

¹⁶ " Come near to Me, hear this:
      I have not spoken in secret from the beginning;
      From the time that it was, I was there.
      And now the Lord GOD and His Spirit
      Have sent Me."
       ¹⁷ Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer,
      The Holy One of Israel:

      " I am the LORD your God,
      Who teaches you to profit,
      Who leads you by the way you should go.
       ¹⁸ Oh, that you had heeded My commandments!
      Then your peace would have been like a river,
      And your righteousness like the waves of the sea.
       ¹⁹ Your descendants also would have been like the sand,
      And the offspring of your body like the grains of sand;
      His name would not have been cut off
      Nor destroyed from before Me."
