Verse of the Day 4/11

Through the Bible - Leviticus 14, Hebrews 11:20-40

Good morning,
One of the things that we often take for granted and that we should be most grateful for is the opportunity pray to God; having direct access to Him through what Jesus Christ has done for us.

For today's verse we'll go to Hebrews chapter 4, where we are encouraged to "come boldly" to the throne of grace in times of need.

Heb 4:15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.  NKJV
Most ancient rulers and even some modern day dictators are virtually unapproachable by anyone but their highest advisors.  To approach them directly would be at great risk of punishment or even death.  Esther risked this in going before the king, thankfully, he extended the golden scepter to hear Esther's case.  In Jesus, we not only have our King, in Him we have a friend.

Whether facing trials or temptations, let us have this confidence and take to heart the words to the old hymn, "What a Friend We Have in Jesus".

What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear! What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer! O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear, all because we do not carry everything to God in prayer. Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere? We should never be discouraged; take it to the Lord in prayer. Can we find a friend so faithful who will all our sorrows share? Jesus knows our every weakness; take it to the Lord in prayer.
Are we weak and heavy laden, cumbered with a load of care? Precious Savior, still our refuge; take it to the Lord in prayer. Do thy friends despise, forsake thee? Take it to the Lord in prayer! In his arms he'll take and shield thee; thou wilt find a solace there.
In Christ,
Mike

Our Compassionate High Priest

14 Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.   NKJV
