Through the Bible - Leviticus 19-20, Hebrews 13
Good morning,
The members of a small group that I'm in recently went through an exercise, (actually a labor of love and encouragement), where instead of sharing our spiritual gifts we took turns sharing the gifts that we had seen in the lives of other members of the group. It was an encouraging, challenging and humbling experience. I don't know what the specific goal was intended to be but I don't think anyone could go away from that experience and not feel "spurred on".
Heb 10:24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. NIV
Today's New Testament reading is from Hebrews 13 where we read that it is Jesus and what He accomplished for us that "equips us with everything good".
Heb 13:20 Now may the God of peace
who brought up from the dead our Lord Jesus,
the great Shepherd of the sheep,
and ratified an eternal covenant with his blood
21 may he equip you with all you need
for doing his will.
May he produce in you,
through the power of Jesus Christ,
every good thing that is pleasing to him.
All glory to him forever and ever! Amen. NLT

Every spiritual gift that we have is from God who "equips us" with them in order to do His will. John MacArthur writes that the word "equip" here "is not the Greek word for "perfect" or "perfection" used throughout Hebrews to indicate salvation but is a word which is translated "prepared" in 10:5 and "created" in 11:3. It refers to believers being edified. The verb has the idea of equipping by means of adjusting, shaping, mending, restoring, or preparing."
May the Spirit adjust, shape, mend, restore and prepare us to use those gifts to do and accomplish His will in our lives.
Spirit of the Living God
Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me.
Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me.
Melt me, mold me, fill me, use me,
Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me.
Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me.
Melt me, mold me, fill me, use me,
Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me.
Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on us.
Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on us.
Melt us, mold us, fill us, use us,
Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on us.
Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on us.
Melt us, mold us, fill us, use us,
Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on us.
In Christ,
Mike

17 Obey your spiritual leaders, and do what they say. Their work is to watch over your souls, and they are accountable to God. Give them reason to do this with joy and not with sorrow. That would certainly not be for your benefit.
18 Pray for us, for our conscience is clear and we want to live honorably in everything we do. 19 And especially pray that I will be able to come back to you soon.
20 Now may the God of peace
