John 4:23-24 (ESV) But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. 24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth."
Yesterday we considered "but now Jesus Christ is risen from the dead", that it was something that was done in the past but it has everlasting consequences. That now is as true today as it was that day.
In a wonderful passage on worship and the spirit of worship, Jesus tells the Samaritan woman "the hour is coming and is now here". Now is the time to worship. It has the same implications. Worship from that time forward was to be different. The worship was to be alive and in spirit and in truth according to God's Word. That spirit arises out of a heart that has been changed, that has received the "water" that Jesus promised in verse 14. That water springs up, flows within and out of us in praise and worship to our Saviour.
John 4:14 (AMP) But whoever takes a drink of the water that I will give him shall never, no never, be thirsty any more. But the water that I will give him shall become a spring of water welling up (flowing, bubbling) [continually] within him unto (into, for) eternal life.
Have you experienced this? The cares, concerns and busyness of life can rob us or distract us from experiencing it. Don't let it. "Do not quench the Spirit" (1 Thes. 5:19) but let it flow in and through you in acts of worship. Read or sing the lines to the Philipps, Craig and Dean song. Come now, just as you are.
Come, now is the time to worship
Come, now is the time to give your heart
Come, just as you are, to worship
Come, just as you are, before your God
Come
One day every tongue will confess
You are God
One day every knee will bow
Still the greatest treasure remains for those
Who gladly choose you now
Come, now is the time to give your heart
Come, just as you are, to worship
Come, just as you are, before your God
Come
One day every tongue will confess
You are God
One day every knee will bow
Still the greatest treasure remains for those
Who gladly choose you now
Blessings,
Mike

John 4:21-26 English Standard Version (ESV)
21 Jesus said to her, "Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father. 22 You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews.23 But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. 24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth." 25 The woman said to him, "I know that Messiah is coming (he who is called Christ). When he comes, he will tell us all things." 26 Jesus said to her, "I who speak to you am he."
