Verse of the Day 1/10

2 Timothy 3:16   Every Scripture is God-breathed (given by His inspiration) and profitable for instruction, for reproof and conviction of sin, for correction of error and discipline in obedience, [and] for training in righteousness (in holy living, in conformity to God's will in thought, purpose, and action),    Amplified Bible (AMP)

Yesterday's verse regarding temptation and the example showed by Jesus should be a reminder to us of how important it is to spend time with God in His Word and in prayer regarding His Word.  In doing so we will continually preach the gospel to ourselves as His Word accomplishes its purpose of teaching, correcting, convicting and training us.

Milton Vincent writes,  "Preaching the gospel to myself each day mounts a powerful assault against my pride and serves to establish humility in its place. Nothing suffocates my pride more than daily reminders regarding the glory of my God, the gravity of my sins, and the crucifixion of God's own Son in my place. Also, the gracious love of God, lavished on me because of Christ's death, is always humbling to remember, especially when viewed against the backdrop of the Hell I deserve."

As we've started off this still New Year, how much time have you been spending in His Word.   Can we admit to ourselves that we need  correction of error and
discipline in obedience, [and] for training in righteousness in our lives?

Blessings,
Mike

2 Timothy 3:15-17  New Living Translation (NLT)

15 You have been taught the holy Scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. 17 God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.
