Verse of the Day 8/1

Romans 1:5-6 We have received grace and apostleship through Him to bring about[a] the obedience of faith among all the nations, on behalf of His name, including yourselves who also belong to Jesus Christ by calling:  Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

The read through the Bible plan that I'm following has brought me to the book of Romans.  Yesterday as I read from Romans 1, I saw these verses and thought once again of God's grace how He's been so gracious to us.  Today's verses go on to tell us what is behind it, what the purpose is, and what our goal should be in receiving and applying this grace.  We've a story to tell to the nations, it's a story told, acted out in our lives, the obedience of faith. on behalf of His great name.

The old hymn "We've a Story to Tell" came to mind:

We've a story to tell to the nations,
That shall turn their hearts to the right,
A story of truth and mercy,
A story of peace and light,
A story of peace and light.

Refrain

For the darkness shall turn to dawning,
And the dawning to noonday bright;
And Christ's great kingdom shall come on earth,
The kingdom of love and light.

As we think about our lives, one way or another we are telling a story of what or who we believe in.  If God has been gracious to us we should show it in our lives, reflecting His mercy, peace and light.  It's God's good news to your town and to the world.

In Christ,
Mike

God's Good News for Rome

Paul, a slave of Christ Jesus, called as an apostle[a] and singled out for God's good news which He promised long ago through His prophets in the Holy Scriptures— concerning His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who was a descendant of David[b] according to the flesh and who has been declared to be the powerful Son of God by the resurrection from the dead according to the Spirit of holiness.[c] We have received grace and apostleship through Him to bring about[d] the obedience of faith[e] among all the nations,[f] on behalf of His name, including yourselves who also belong to Jesus Christ by calling:
