Verse of the Day 7/8
Esther 4:14 For if you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance will rise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father's house will perish. And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?" English Standard Version (ESV)
Yesterday we considered how God speaks in a still small voice or a gentle whisper even amid or following a whirlwind or earthquake of chaos going on around us. The description that stayed with me was the translation "the sound of sheer silence". It reminded me of the story of Mordecai and Esther. God is not specifically mentioned in the book of Esther but He spoke to Mordecai in the sheer silence of what was going on, and what was being planned against the Jews at that time.
We may not find ourselves in such a key position in our lives, but no matter what position we are in life, we have a voice and will have opportunities to speak out, to share our faith, speak words of truth "above the din" to someone in our life. Who knows whether God has put you where you are for such a time as this. I'll return to the Wayne Watson song, "For Such a Time as This".
You - Do you ever wonder why
Seems like the grass is always greener
Under everybody else's sky
But right here, right here for this time and place
You can live a mirror of His mercy
A forgiven image of grace
For such a time as this
I was placed upon the earth
To hear the voice of God
And do His will
Whatever it is
For such a time as this
For now and all the days He gives
I am here, I am here
And I am His
For such a time as this
Right here, right now, hear the voice of God, and do His will.

Esther 4:14The Message (MSG)
12-14 When Hathach told Mordecai what Esther had said, Mordecai sent her this message: "Don't think that just because you live in the king's house you're the one Jew who will get out of this alive. If you persist in staying silent at a time like this, help and deliverance will arrive for the Jews from someplace else; but you and your family will be wiped out. Who knows? Maybe you were made queen for just such a time as this."
