Verse of the Day 9/4
Ephesians 6:10-11
Holman Christian Standard Bible
10 Finally, be strengthened by the Lord and by His vast strength. 11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can stand against the tactics[a] of the Devil.
The other day we considered how we, as Christians, have the Spirit of God living in us and we are called to "put on Christ". This involves acting out our faith acting upon the Spirit's call, His promptings, living out what we believe.
Today's familiar verses expand upon this. Here, Paul calls us to put on "the full armor of God". A soldier would not head out without any of His armor. From his head to his feet he is prepared for battle for he never knows when he will have to use them, to depend on them to take a stand against an enemy.
The verses remind us also of God's vast strength. The power of the One who created all there is, is with us. He is for us, He is on our side.
I had saved the following quote in me eBible - "If you delay preparation until the battle is upon you, then it's too late. If your armor isn't in place, you're vulnerable to the arrows of the enemy. If you neglect prayer, worship, Bible study, accountability, and the other disciplines of faith, you can't expect to prevail when spiritual skirmishes arise." (Author unknown).
Don't delay preparation. Seek the Lord early and throughout the day. Put on the Spiritual armor so that you will be able to stand when faced by the challenges of life.
Blessings,
Mike

Ephesians 6:10-18
New International Version
The Armor of God
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people.
