Verse of the Day 1/1

Verse of the Day 1/1

2 Corinthians 13:14
New King James Version

14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.

I read today's verse in a devotional yesterday that had gone through the book of 2 Corinthians. It is fitting to take a look at this verse today as Paul concludes his letter with a look to the future and a call for God's blessing upon his readers.  Most of us are happy to see 2021 in the rearview mirror and realize that we made it through by God's grace.  We also realize that we are sustained by His grace today and will depend on His grace for whatever we may face in 2022.

Pastor John Piper writes, "In the next five minutes, you will receive sustaining grace flowing to you from the future, and you will accumulate another five minutes' worth of grace in the reservoir of the past. The proper response to the grace you experienced in the past is thankfulness, and the proper response to grace promised to you in the future is faith. We are thankful for the past grace of the last year, and we are confident in the future grace for the new year. "

My prayer for you this year is the same, that the love of God and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

1 Marvelous grace of our loving Lord,
Grace that exceeds our sin and our guilt!
Yonder on Calvary's mount out-poured–
There where the blood of the Lamb was spilt.

Refrain:
Grace, grace, God's grace,
Grace that will pardon and cleanse within;
Grace, grace, God's grace,
Grace that is greater than all our sin!

2 Sin and despair, like the sea-waves cold,
Threaten the soul with infinite loss;
Grace that is greater– yes, grace untold–
Points to the Refuge, the mighty Cross. [Refrain]

3 Marvelous, infinite, matchless grace,
Freely bestowed on all who believe!
All who are longing to see His face,

Will you this moment His grace receive? [Refrain]

Blessings,
Mike
