Verse of the Day 3/12
Ephesians 5:20New Century Version
Ephesians 5:20
New Century Version
20 Always give thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The other day I posted the words to the old hymn "Count Your Manny Blessings". With all that is going on around us from war in the Ukraine to the ongoing battle with COVID 19 and financial struggles due to rising inflation, it is easy to forget to count our blessings. But when was the last time you thanked God for the ability to breath, to taste, to smell, to feel the warmth of the sun on your face or on your back; to see the flowers of spring "popping" or to see a child playing and laughing with their father or mother?
Max Lucado writes, "The grateful heart is like a magnet sweeping over the day, collecting reasons for gratitude. A zillion diamonds sparkle against the velvet of your sky every night. Thank you, God. A miracle of muscles enables your eyes to read these words and your brain to process them. Thank you, God. Your lungs inhale and exhale eleven thousand liters of air every day. Your heart will beat about three billion times in your lifetime. Your brain is a veritable electric generator of power."
Amid the challenges of the day, may your heart be a "greatful magnet", sweeping over the day to draw out and perhaps discover anew things to be thankful for. It may change your day and that of those around you.
Blessings,
Mike

Ephesians 5:15-20New International Version
Ephesians 5:15-20
New International Version
15 Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is. 18 Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, 20 always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
