Verse of the Day 7/2
Proverbs 3:7-8New International Version
Proverbs 3:7-8
New International Version
7 Do not be wise in your own eyes;
fear the Lord and shun evil.8 This will bring health to your body
and nourishment to your bones.
Part of that submitting is evidenced in today's verses about not being "wise" in our own eyes. David Jeremiah writes that there is good reason to do so, "because those who are wise in their own eyes will not seek the wisdom of God, instead they think they have it already."
Many years ago, the WWJD bracelets were popular, a reminder that we should think What Woiuld Jesus Do in any given situation. It was a good idea with good intentions. However, in order to do what Jesus would do, we have to know, to be familiar with what Jesus said, did and taught. If it is not based on that, we may think that "we have it already" when we really don't.
We truly should apply the principle, what wouild Jesus do, but we should do it being diligent to know what He truly did and taught in the Bible. We do this by taking what we learn in God's Word and applying it in our lives every day.
- May the mind of Christ, my Savior,
Live in me from day to day,
By His love and pow'r controlling
All I do and say. - May the Word of God dwell richly
In my heart from hour to hour,
So that all may see I triumph
Only through His pow'r. - May the peace of God my Father
Rule my life in everything,
That I may be calm to comfort
Sick and sorrowing. - May the love of Jesus fill me
As the waters fill the sea;
Him exalting, self abasing,
This is victory. - May I run the race before me,
Strong and brave to face the foe,
Looking only unto Jesus
As I onward go. (Kate Wilkinson)

Proverbs 3:1-8New International Version
Proverbs 3:1-8
New International Version
Wisdom Bestows Well-Being
3 My son, do not forget my teaching,
but keep my commands in your heart,
2 for they will prolong your life many years
and bring you peace and prosperity.
3 Let love and faithfulness never leave you;
bind them around your neck,
write them on the tablet of your heart.
4 Then you will win favor and a good name
in the sight of God and man.
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.[a]
7 Do not be wise in your own eyes;
fear the Lord and shun evil.
8 This will bring health to your body
and nourishment to your bones.
