Verse of the Day 7/21

Verse of the Day 7/21

Colossians 1:13-14
English Standard Version

13 He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

In yesterday's verses from 1 John 4 we read that "God is love" and He showed that love to us as He wrote in John 3:16 that He so loved the world that He sent Jesus into the world to save us from our sins.  In today's verses Paul conveys that same message, he speeks of redemption, that our sins have been covered, the price has been paid.

The Greek word for delivered used here means "to draw to oneself".  We did not find God on our own, God did the work of "drawing us" to Himself.  In doing so we have been conveyed, transferred to a new kingdom which begins here and goes on for eternity.

Redeemed—how I love to proclaim it!
Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
Redeemed through His infinite mercy,
His child, and forever, I am.
 Redeemed, redeemed,
Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
Redeemed, redeemed,
  His child, and forever, I am.
Have you been redeemed?  Proclaim it!  Praise Him!  Never forget that you are His child, forever, a child of the Great I AM.

Blessings,
Mike

Colossians 1:9-14
English Standard Version

And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, 10 so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; 11 being strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy; 12 giving thanks[ to the Father, who has qualified you[b] to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. 13 He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
